Golf Girl

WHAT A WEEKEND! Saturday we went to The Crown Plaza Invitational...known in these here parts as The Colonial. It was very cool to watch some of the top golfers playing golf less than 10 feet from where we were sitting. My feet took a beating!

Sunday night a really great friend of ours took us to see B. B. King play at The House of Blues in Dallas. WOW! It was amazing getting to see him! Of course since he is older he does a lot of playing when he wants and the rather large backup band does the bulk of the show but hey....he's BB King! He can do pretty much whatever he wants to.

Well...Looky there!

My company has crappy computers. I mean REALLY CRAPPY COMPUTERS. I've just had to change computers for the 4th time since February. Not a new computer, just one of the not quite as crappy computers that is floating around the building.
So anyway, when I was setting it up I realized it was a computer that I had used before in another department. It has a picture of my lovely teardrop trailer as the screensaver and then I found this picture that I had saved BEFORE Dave and I had even started talking about getting married. I think I managed to get pretty dern close to my original vision. Whatcha think!?!?!?

Vision....

Dang I'm good! Now I wish I could remember where I found that picture.

My Sweetheart In Action!

The guys had a show Thursday night and another one on Friday night. Hmmm....maybe that is why staying home this weekend sounded so appealing!

My favorite picture...

This picture always makes me smile. I picture our future little one looking this adorable. My friends would say that the only thing that is missing is the Sharpie! (I'm notorious for duct tape and sharpie abuse on random historic dancehalls in Texas.)

A little perspective.....

My best friend alway knows how to put things into perspective.

God puts us through garbage to make us ready for the jobs He needs us to do. You don’t get to sit on the sidelines. My personal belief is that the tougher your life is, the greater the job is that God wants you to do. Therefore, I think struggle is a sign of God’s favor. Ann

And MAN have I been through some garbage in my lifetime! Maybe I am one of the few people that has seen enough that I'm not going to be scared off by this child's behavior. My biggest fear (well maybe second biggest fear) is that we somehow drop the ball or just flat miss the ball on this and he gets lost in the system.
Please pray that we can find the right path to take for him and us

The Swamp Deck

One of our favorite places to just hang out when we are at Slocum is the Swamp Deck. You can sit out there and just enjoy the breeze, the view, the wildlife etc. It's even better if you are down there alone.

I SERIOUSLY LOVE these bikes!!! We live close enough to the grocery store that I would ride it down there a few times each week to get groceries...in addition to just tootling around town to show it off.

More Aprons...

I know you have to look through a few head to see them...but one of my favorite decorations was the vintage gingham half aprons we used to decorate around the food and beverage tables.

Aprons

My MOH Ann would probably not be too pleased with this picture but it was funny.

More pictures!

#1 My niece Madison
#2 my best friend's daughter Rachel. She only allowed people to write their first and last name instead of letting them write whatever they wanted on a page of their own. It was pretty funny.
#3 Flowerbed
#4 vows
#5 Dave and his bestman Charley

I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by Long Engagement Bride! So here we go!

What is your current obsession? Updating the house. We've painted about half of it and are going to put in wood floor soon.

What are you wearing now? a white tank, black yoga pants and a splint on my finger

Do you nap a lot? I used to when I was having issues with the thyroid but lately I haven't needed to take them as much. I do love to take a Sunday afternoon nap with my sweetie whenever possible. A little "Raining on Sunday" time.

What is on your desk? At work it's a vase I made in pottery class, an Angel, a note from a niece that says "I love you mor thn ant I have!", a note from D that says I love you XOXO, a large cold drink (usually from Sonic), a hot drink in a pirate mug (that was the last one in the kitchen) and then a bunch of work crap.

What would you like to learn to do? I would LOVE to go back to school for photography so I can take it to the next level.

what’s for dinner? We get this amazing flatbread from the Halal market and use it to make a thin crust pizza. Tonight we are going to use some of the bbq chicken we served at our wedding and lots of good veggies. D is really great at doing most of the dinner cooking. I'm just his sous chef. I specialize in breakfasts.
What was the last thing you bought? Food stuff for the wedding and cold medication.

What is your favorite weather? Anything that doesn't include snow, hail storms or tornados.

What is your idea of a relaxing day? sleeping in, a late breakfast on the back deck, puttering around the house and grilling something for dinner which we enjoy with a nice glass of wine out on the back deck while we watch the sun set.

What is your most challenging goal right now? oh the usual stuff, money, cars that want to break down every other day, trying to find a common ground with the stepson, and of course, debt reduction

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where do you want it to be? It would be really cool to have a home in far North Ireland, I was going to say I would take one in Paris but it would have to come with a translator.

What would you like to have in your hands right now? My Wedding Pictures!!! DUH!

What would you like to get rid of? This dang bug I've been fighting for the last week.

What languages can you speak? English

What language(s) do you want to be able to speak? French, Spanish, Italian

What do you want to be when you grow up? A wedding photographer

What's one thing you're looking forward to? a baby (fingers crossed!)

What websites do you visit constantly during the day? 2000 dollar wedding, a bunch more wedding sites which I lost the links to when my computer at work crashed last week. Email, other email, work email.

If you were to pick up a pen right now, what would be the first thing you'd write? a thank you note!!! I've got lots to do!

If you could be anywhere in the world at any point in time, where would you be? in bed with a hot toddy and my sweetheart giving me a neck rub.

What was the last movie you watched? The Jane Austin Book Club it was just OK....

What is your favourite thing to make? breakfast fritattas, cakes. I'm better at breakfast and baking, Dave is better at dinner and grilling. Then whoever doesn't cook does the dishes.

Now, I need to tag 5 people!

2000 dollar wedding
Something Old Something New
Lucy and I
Project Subrosa
Auntie Cookie

What a way to get started...

Last Wednesday I picked up the flowers we were going to use for the wedding, cranked the ac in the pickup, and headed south to Slocum to start getting everything set up Saturday. By the time I got there I was frozen but I HAD to get the flowers trimmed and stored right away. So I grabbed the flowers out of the truck first and started trimming the stems on them so we could put them in a cool dark place to keep them from opening too soon.

I managed to get just about all of them trimmed with no problem. THEN I started on the Ecuadorian roses. Yeah, those little buggers were tough! I had about half of them trimmed when the scissors slipped. I watched in almost slow motion as they cut the entire top of my pointer knuckle off. CRAP!!! I yelled to Barbara that I needed her QUICK and it was BAD! It was pretty obvious that I needed stitches so Brent drove me to Palestine where we sat for HOURS at the ER. After almost 3 hours they had only taken 4 people back. It was almost 10 pm by then and my finger looked pretty rough but it also looked like we could use some butterfly strips on it to hold it together.

I went to the front desk to let them know I wasn't staying and a Doctor walked up about then and apologized for things being so crazy. I pulled back my bandage and told him what we were going to do and he said even though it really did need stitches that if I could keep it really clean and protected it should work. YAY! AND I didn't have to wait to see a doctor after all.

We stopped at a pharmacy on the way back to the cabin and loaded up on butterfly strips, ointments and a splint to keep it from getting whacked while I was getting everything set up.

When we arrived back at the cabin there was a new sign up in the kitchen "Carla is not allowed to handle sharp objects!!!"

Abracadabra and Fried Green Tomatoes

Yes those were actually part of our vows....along with the officiant doing a happy dance. LITERALLY DOING A HAPPY DANCE!!!! A guest's dog cruising around me while we said our vows, my best friend's little girl standing about a foot away from us during the ceremony instead of back where the guest were. Oh and me kicking my shoes off during the ceremony.
We woke up Sunday morning to a raging storm and no electricity and I was never so happy to have spent the extra $$ on that damn port-a-potty because no electricty meant no running water also. (well punps run on electricity in the country!)
I have soooo much to share but I am exhausted and really really sick. Plus there is a mountain of dirty dishes to start dealing with.
